We are seeking a Training Specialist that will be responsible for delivering, managing and enhancing the training program(s) and tools in order to ensure that training audiences develop the requisite knowledge, skills and abilities to be impactful in their roles.

This is a remote position and will require up to 50% travel. The territory is greater Bay Area, preferably within the vicinity of Roseville, CA, Sacramento, CA or Oakland, CA. 

Position Summary

In this full-time position, the Training Specialist will be responsible for delivering, managing and enhancing the training program(s) and tools in order to ensure that training audiences develop the requisite knowledge, skills and abilities to be impactful in their roles.

Reporting to the Director of Sales Training, the Training Specialist will be responsible for ensuring that all training audiences have the requisite knowledge and skills to perform as a valued Contractor partner.  Training will include topics such as: PACE(CalFIRST), how to position and sell, Tools such as the Contractor Portal, Selling Skills and Sales Performance. In addition, the Training Specialist will develop and execute training plans for the above topics.  They will drive Contractor engagement and gather process improvement feedback to share across the business.

 

Essential Duties & Responsibilities:

 

Contractor Training -- 60%

  • Delivers in-the-shop and on-the-job training to Contractor Partners of Renew Financial. Training includes topics such as PACE(CalFIRST), How to Sell (Compliance with AB1284), Use of Tools (Contractor Portal), Best Demonstrated Practices and Use Cases.
  • Delivers cross-training to team members to ensure effective understanding of upstream and downstream roles and responsibilities.
  • Delivers Sales Enrichment & Enablement training to Home Improvement Contractors who offer our financial solutions to homeowners.
  • Coaches and develops individuals who are struggling to learn and apply key skills, knowledge and abilities related to their roles.
  • Schedules and coordinates training for various programs, curricula and courses.

Contractor Engagement -- 10%

 

  • Create training engagement plans for larger Contractor Engagements.
  • Deliver reinforced sessions across Programs, Tools and Selling Skills.
  • Coaches and develops individuals who are struggling to learn and apply key skills, knowledge and abilities related to their roles.

 

Course & Program Development -- 10%

 

  • Develops curriculum, courses, tools & resources to assist in the learning process and to boost on-the-job performance.
  • Selects appropriate instructional methods to accelerate learning such as individual training, group instruction, self-study, lectures, demonstrations, simulation exercises, role play and computer-based training.
  • Organizes and develops training reference materials, testing evaluation procedures and other educational learning resources.

 

Training Needs Assessment & Evaluation -- 10%

  • Measures effectiveness of training programs, reports successes and opportunities and makes revisions/updates related to feedback received.
  • Evaluates and reports training effectiveness using tools such as Survey Monkey, LMS testing, Kahoots quizzes and other measurement tools.
  • Partners with Business Unit and Training leadership to identify training needs and individual/group performance gaps that need training and performance intervention.
  • May conduct initial intake and/or simple and straightforward needs assessments for new initiatives and project requests in order to ensure training needs are identified and prioritized.
  • Measure impact to Contractor performance (KPIs include Application Volume through Funding)

 

Training Scheduling, Coordination and Administration -- 10%

 

  • Schedules, coordinates and delivers training for team members in various office locations
  • Helps identify and select appropriate instructional methods to accelerate learning such as individual training, group instruction, self-study, lectures, demonstrations, simulation exercises, role play and computer-based training
  • Tracks participants attendance and reports training completion
  • Other duties as assigned or needed

 

Competencies:

 

  • Demonstrated experience in adult learning theory and principles
  • Demonstrated understanding of Instructional Design methodologies

 

Minimum Qualifications (experience, education, certifications):

 

  • 3-5 years’ experience in the delivery of Sales training programs in for-profit industries. Experience working in Financial, Loan Processing or Call Center environments preferred
  • Candidates with experience in Sales (Direct, in-home) with some additional training experience may also be considered
  • Training certification(s) in Leadership, Sales, Service development from a recognized Training Vendor (e.g. Professional Selling Skills by Achieve Global/Miller Heiman, Extraordinary Leaders by Zenger Folkman, etc.
  • Experience with Microsoft Office programs (Word, PowerPoint, Excel), CRMs and Learning Management Systems
  • Proven background in the delivery of customer service, sales and leadership training to external customers and/or internal business partners
  • Strong attention to detail, highly organized
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced environment
  • Ability to travel up to 40%
  • Proven presentation and facilitation experience
  • Knowledge of principles and methods for curriculum and training design, teaching and instruction for individuals and groups, and the measurement of training effectiveness preferred
  • Bachelor’s degree or equivalent combination of education & experience preferred

  • Home Improvement Industry Experience

 

Other Information

 

Work environment: Internally, the environment is typical of most office locations. However, you may need to travel to Contractor locations and deliver training in warehouse type offices that may or may not have HVAC.

 

Physical demands: Setting up of rooms, flipchart management, assembly of program materials, etc.

 

Expected hours of work: Typical day is 8am-5pm. On training days, the expectation is that the trainer will arrive 30 minutes before the start of any class and stay until the job is done.

 

Travel: Up to 40% travel may be required to deliver training to internal staff or external business partners.
